Seeking Truth, Building Community, and Promoting Justice

Welcoming Congregation
We are a welcoming congregation that seeks to be a spiritual home for people of free faith. We value the full range of human diversity, including race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, affectional/sexual orientation, age, national origin, socioeconomic status, and ability.

We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional and sacred land of the Anishinaabe and Dakota people. In honor of their stewardship throughout the generations, we commit ourselves to protecting that land and working to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The St. Cloud Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is a small religious community serving the central Minnesota area. We are a welcoming congregation and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association which has more than one thousand congregations in the United States and Canada.

Our denomination has a shared set of principles to guide us rather than a prescribed creed. Each individual has an opportunity to seek their own spiritual path. Our efforts and growth are encouraged through intellectual, aesthetic, supportive and spiritual programs and activities and through discussions among members and friends.

If you are seeking an open and welcoming religious environment, please visit us and share in our fellowship.

Sunday Services

We meet at 10:30 on Sunday mornings from September through May. The services usually include music, readings, a presentation by a minister or other speaker, and a chance to respond to the presentation. Casual dress is common and the service is less formal than many churches. Visitors are welcome.

On the first and third Sundays of each month from September to May, a Children’s Religious Education (CRE) experience, based on UU Principles, is offered for children and youth ages 5 – 16.   Recent topics have included:  Democracy for Dinosaurs, Insects, A Creative Expression of Thankfulness, Bullying, Beekeeping, Meditation and Racism.

A “CRE Corner” in the Sanctuary has quiet games and activities for youngsters to enjoy during the other Sundays of the month.  “Time for Children” story time is offered early in the service and a nursery is available for infants and toddlers.

April 2025

10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 6: Listen Carefully – Rev. Shelley Dugan (via Zoom)

Almost every person will tell you that they are good drivers, have a great sense of humor, and that they’re excellent listeners. Many of us have been taught the basic skills of how to be a good communicator. It can be a lot of work. Join us this Sunday as we play with a new way to listen that is easier and more effective than what you were probably taught. It is a simple and fun way to connect deeply with others. Listen up! Stay afterward for soup and bread!

Children’s Program (CRE): Learn more about meditation, relaxation and being calm. We’ll learn a song from Thich Nhat Hahn, practice meditating, and learn some calming yoga poses. (What’s a Downward Dog anyway? Or Thread the Needle? Or Cherry Tree in the Garden? Or Pink Flamingo?) Come find out! Helen Manion offers this for us.

10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 13: Growing with Grace: Cultivating Spaces of Belonging & Hope – Tracy Ore, Ph.D.

Join Tracy for a presentation on how the St. Cloud State University Community Garden cultivates belonging and hope. More than just a place to grow food, the garden fosters inclusivity, social connection, and radical openness, becoming a hub for community exchange, empowerment, and well-being. Attendees will be invited to explore ways to adapt these practices in their own environments.

Children’s Activity: Bright Bulb Kidz Korner or the Nursery with Ms. Heidi.

10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 20: Metaphors that Matter: The Power of Language and the Structure of Truth – Meleah Houseknecht, seminarian

Today we have the rare opportunity to celebrate both Easter and Earth Day, a time that is rich in metaphor and symbolism, where we mark loss and resurrection, transformation, the renewal of life, and our connection to Earth as creator and sustainer. The metaphors and models we use for the ultimate source of truth and goodness also shape our understanding of human society and moral action. How can our choices of language and metaphor be a source of resistance and creativity in an age of nationalist propaganda and disinformation?

Children’s Program (CRE): Climate Change Revival offered by Carina Paton (rescheduled from March) Saturday, April 19. We have been offered a tour of a local Hindu Temple at 9:30 AM, and we will caravan together from our parking lot leaving at 8:10 AM.  Please let Louise know if you will be joining us. All are welcome.

10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 27: U.S. Constitutional Conversation – Judith Siminoe

What is the purpose of the Bill of Rights? Constitutional law has evolved as society has changed. After a little background on protection for speech and religion, we will consider some hypothetical scenarios and practice thinking like judges.

Children’s Activity: Bright Bulb Kidz Korner or the Nursery with Ms. Heidi.
