Seeking Truth, Building Community, and Promoting Justice
Welcoming Congregation
We are a welcoming congregation that seeks to be a spiritual home for people of free faith. We value the full range of human diversity, including race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, affectional/sexual orientation, age, national origin, socioeconomic status, and ability.
We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional and sacred land of the Anishinaabe and Dakota people. In honor of their stewardship throughout the generations, we commit ourselves to protecting that land and working to mitigate the effects of climate change.
The St. Cloud Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is a small religious community serving the central Minnesota area. We are a welcoming congregation and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association which has more than one thousand congregations in the United States and Canada.
Our denomination has a shared set of principles to guide us rather than a prescribed creed. Each individual has an opportunity to seek their own spiritual path. Our efforts and growth are encouraged through intellectual, aesthetic, supportive and spiritual programs and activities and through discussions among members and friends.
If you are seeking an open and welcoming religious environment, please visit us and share in our fellowship.
On the first and third Sundays of each month from September to May, a Children’s Religious Education (CRE) experience, based on UU Principles, is offered for children and youth ages 5 – 16. Recent topics have included: Democracy for Dinosaurs, Insects, A Creative Expression of Thankfulness, Bullying, Beekeeping, Meditation and Racism.
A “CRE Corner” in the Sanctuary has quiet games and activities for youngsters to enjoy during the other Sundays of the month. “Time for Children” story time is offered early in the service and a nursery is available for infants and toddlers.

February 2025
10:30 a.m. Sunday, February 2: Spiritual Relief Is Available – Myo-O Habermas-Scher
We come together as spiritual community to support each other in our confusion, to study where hope may be found, and to take action in order to help each other. Where exactly may this deep relief, mentioned in all spiritual traditions, be found? And how does this relief relate to our suffering? And most importantly, how do we access it? The Buddha’s teachings mention Nirvana. (A rock and roll group also used Nirvana as its moniker.) How can we know the difference between Nirvana and Nirvana? Let’s check it out together. All are welcome to stay afterward for soup and bread.
Children’s Activity: Bright Bulb Kidz Korner or the Nursery with Ms. Heidi.
10:30 a.m. Sunday, February 9: “Love is the power that holds us together…” (title taken from UU Values)
Our musicians host this Valentine program of songs and stories. Our musicians and the choir will provide some music and you are invited to contribute by sharing poems, songs, readings – or anything else that might fit – for Valentine’s Day. Contact Jane Ellison by February 2, with your ideas or offers for participation. Don't be bashful - the more different bits and pieces, the better! Everyone is invited to join us and enjoy a morning focused on love, in all its many forms. Stay for waffles afterward!!
Children’s Program (CRE): How to love? We will talk about what qualities we love about ourselves and how we can show ourselves and others love. Amelia Fierro-Fine offers this for us.
10:30 a.m. Sunday, February 16: Hope and Hospice – Rev. Shelley Dugan
Hospice is a loaded word. If it doesn't mean giving up, how does it relate to hope? What is the difference between Palliative Care, Comfort Care and Hospice? How can we support a person best in their last weeks and days? Bring your curiosity and listen as Rev. Shelley Dugan explains the philosophy and the program of hospice in the United States. She has been a hospice chaplain for more than 14 years. Come and find all the surprising ways Hospice is intertwined with hope.
Children’s Activity: Bright Bulb Kidz Korner or the Nursery with Ms. Heidi.
10:30 a.m. Sunday, February 23: Henry David Thoreau, His Life and Work — Brenda Graves (via Zoom)
Born two hundred and eight years ago, Thoreau’s writing speaks to our condition today more than ever. Writer, naturalist, advocate of simple living, social critic, and so much more, Thoreau, author of the masterpiece, Walden, labored to teach us how to live. This presentation aspires to give, in pictures and narrative, a glimpse of his beautiful life.
Children’s Program (CRE): Learn about meditation, relaxation and being calm. We’ll have a short time to answer questions, practice and learn some calming yoga poses. (What’s a Downward Dog anyway?) Come find out! Helen Manion offers this for us. (Rescheduled from January.)
